In continuing with the St. Patrick's Day theme, and wanting to have more fun with our senses, I decided to make sensory bags for my daughter. Like any other little 7 month old, she is obsessed with touching EVERYTHING. A lot of times, they are things that should not be touched.
If you are as particular as I am, I really wanted to have a clear bag, which meant the ziplock label had to go. DID YOU KNOW that you can remove ziplock labels??? All you need is a coton pad and rubbing alcohol. Put a few drops of alcohol on the cotton pad and gently rub off the label. It comes right off! I was sooo amazed.
Now for the sensory bags;
The first sensory bag I made was a green lava lamp type bag.
For this bag you will need;
- 1/4-1/2 cup of water
- Baby oil
- Food colouring
- Sparkles (If you choose)
Start by putting the baby oil in the bag. I used almost the full bottle of baby oil. Add the drops of food colouring in the bag. Add the water in the bag. Make sure you add the water after the baby oil to have the lava lamp effect. Then, you can add your sparkles if you choose. Make sure to properly seal the bag, or you will be dealing with a mess. I also sealed the edges of the bags with tape to make sure that they didn't leak.
The second sensory bag is the confetti bag. This bag is even easier to make, and my daughter absolutely loved it.
For this bag you will need;
- 1 cup of water or hair gel
- confetti of your choice
Start by putting the confetti into the bag, then add your water. It is that simple! You can also use clear hair gel instead of water if you want a different effect.
My daughter had a lot of fun touching and moving the objects in the bags. These are so adaptable so have fun with it. Hope you enjoyed it!
Bye for now,
XO M&M
